US Automobile Manufacturer (Operational Optimization, Leveraging Technology)

Defined requirements for a tactical and operational information system that provided visibility of this vehicle manufacturer’s internal and external supply chain. The objective was to enable client to collaborate with suppliers and transportation providers in order to synchronize deliveries, minimize inventories, and maintain the flexibility to respond optimally to demand. System developed provided the information to both the company and the 3PL car carriers it used, resulting in lowered freight costs for moving new automobiles from plants to dealerships.

Member of a cross-disciplinary team at client’s Utica, MI trim plant, responsible for solving critical line problems related to the manufacture and coating of Reaction Injection Molded (RIM) plastic automotive parts.

Fortune 100 Aircraft Manufacturer (Operational Optimization, Leveraging Technology)

Responsible for the management of multiple high tech process and product development during  the company’s development of the ‘Star Wars’ program, multiple classified missile and weapons programs, F-16 guidance and weapon systems, Apache Helicopter counter defensive and weapons programs. Designed and reconfigured various naval ships into missile frigates. Managed the technical group and personally participated with the Russian missile site manufacturing inspection teams.

Major US Airline (Operational Optimization, Leveraging Technology)

Designed and implemented storage and transport systems associated with aircraft rework facilities. Systems included the specification, procurement, implementation, startup and testing of ASRS systems and transfer conveyor systems to and from the hangars.

Lead project engineer for airport automated warehousing and distribution system. Services included data development, conceptual design, specification development, and bid evaluation for parts distribution facilities on airport concourse. Facility design included a four-aisle mini-load ASRS and 10-inch pneumatic tube parts distribution system. The pneumatic tube system was the largest operating system at the time of its installation.

Major US Truck Manufacturer (Operational Optimization, Financial Prudence)

Planned and designed on-site warehousing at client’s truck manufacturing operations to improve the level of service to assembly and painting operations and also satisfy Volvo’s required internal rate of return. The project’s scope included the development of an expensive parts database, alternative concept development and comparison, development of facility and equipment general arrangements, recommendations for suitable material handling equipment, estimation of equipment costs, and a thorough economic analysis supported through the development of a financial model. The model was used to help determine operationally and finically justifiable concepts and to provide a basis for recommendations for on-site warehousing functions, which satisfied Volvo’s guidelines for financial returns.

Major US Chemical Company (Financial Prudence)

Developed a capital/operational financial investment justification for a multimillion dollar chemical manufacturing plant, including scenario, sensitivity and risk analyses.

Fortune 100 Chemical Company (Operational Optimization, Financial Prudence)

Performed facility Industrial Engineering studies, capital appropriation development and project implementation management. Developed and maintained time studies to establish staffing levels for the Special Fabrication and Forming departments at the Shelby, NC fiberglass facility.

Responsible for maintaining client’s Pennsylvania plant’s capital budget, development of appropriation requests for capital expenditures and project management during implementation of a number of capital projects. Performed various Industrial Engineering studies. Coordinated delivery, storage, and issue of refractory materials during a major float glass furnace rebuild at the facility.

Fuel Cell Manufacturer (Business Growth, Operational Optimization, Organizational Excellence, Financial Prudence)

Project Manager and technical lead for facility design, manufacturing process development from laboratory processes for hydrogen fuel cell products manufacturing.  Developed finance models for manufacturing operations for two product lines. Designed staffing organization charts and job responsibilities for all new positions within new facility. Provided day to day on site subcontractor scheduling and management for facility owner. Acted as ‘Owner Agent’ for client during implementation and start up of facility. Designed assembly processes and required environments for critical component assembly and test.

Major US Oil Company (Leveraging Technology)

Using state-of-the-art distribution network and vehicle route planning software, developed software tool that enabled this fuel distribution company to optimize the delivery of several petroleum products from fuel storage locations to gas stations throughout the eastern United States. The computer model of Sun’s fuel supply chain was designed to be very flexible so that Sun Company personnel could easily change variable system parameters such as the availability of private fleet vehicles or delivery windows for specific locations.

Alternative Energy Startup (Business Growth, Financial Prudence)

Provided strategic direction, operations and project management support. Performed a comprehensive strategic, technical and economic feasibility study in support of the piloting and commercialization of a novel energy and coal sequestration technology. Currently shepherding the company through the intellectual property and commercialization process.

Provided strategic and leadership guidance to Chilean subsidiary of this global, UK-based engineering firm in support of the assimilation and integration of the subsidiary into the parent company.
