“We are drowning in information but starved for knowledge.”
- John Naisbett, Megatrends
DID YOU KNOW...
that no one knows the origin of the “wisdom hierarchy”, sometimes known as the “DIKW model”, although it is deeply embedded in modern information science. Dr. Danny P. Wallace, of the University of Alabama, has cited the earliest use of a “wisdom hierarchy” by philosopher Mortimer Adler dating back to the 1920s. In any event, here’s what we do know. There is a hierarchical connection between data, information, knowledge and wisdom, and we sometimes get the four concepts confused with each other. We live in an age where we are constantly bombarded with information on all fronts. But does it enhance our knowledge? Does it make us wiser? We will always endeavor to deliver content to you that not only provides information, but that hopefully will enhance your knowledge and sometimes even contribute to a deeper wisdom.
