Our History and Mission

Our mission is to deliver unprecedented results, highly tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of each of our clients. Results that derive from a disciplined and creative approach that has proven time and again to drive success. Results that exceed your expectations. Results that are delivered at a highly competitive price commensurate with our value to you. Results we can be proud of.

We established Criterion LLC in 1999 in response to what we saw as a glaring unfulfilled need in the business community. More often than not, business leaders turned to career consultants for advice, only to find that, at the end of the day, they were left to their own devices to execute and deliver. Larger consulting practices, capable of providing a broad array of services across all functional areas, relied heavily on junior associates to actually do the work, were more focused on providing advice than on actual execution, and were hampered by the need to support large staffs and infrastructure by driving billability. Business leaders could turn to smaller, boutique practices for help, but those practices rarely provided the degree of depth and breadth necessary to deliver holistic results and ensure success. The business community needed a lean and highly agile practice, focused on delivering real-world results across all functional areas, but without the trappings and cost infrastructure of larger firms. We believed this was the key to delivering unprecedented value at a highly competitive price. Thus, Criterion was born.

Then, in 2002, we founded Criterion Capital LLC. We recognized an opportunity in the middle-market to deliver capital to our clients as a complement to our advisory practice. Small and medium-sized businesses often found themselves squeezed between the need for capital and the need for talent. We saw companies struggling to capitalize their businesses to drive growth but lacking the necessary talent to do so, and at the same time needing the talent base to achieve greatness but lacking the capital needed to build that talent base. By bringing our two firms together, we combine the delivery of talent, “grey capital” if you will, and “green capital” to ensure our clients’ success.
